The Li'l Series introduces babies, toddlers and young children to their world through the music, art, and diverse cultures that make it so full of wonder. Each video in the series focuses on a different musical form, combining color, shape, size, nature, and movement to familiarize children with their surroundings, while providing the active adult with opportunities for learning.
The first video in the series,
Li'l Jazz, Celebrates this true American music form by introducing basic concepts set to pivotal songs and artists in a learning context that speaks to all ages. All Blues, for example, can be used to introduce movement and recognition to the infant; shape, size and color to the toddler; and story-structure to the younger child, while familiarizing all viewers to the singular sound of Miles Davis in one of his most definitive works.
Li'l Jazz explores the world of jazz as metaphor of the world around the child. From watching blades of grass in the park, to camels in the desert or wooden blocks being stacked high, music like Duke Ellington's Caravan and Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man frames the experience in both an educational and entertaining video that can be watched and experienced again and again and again.
The Li'l Series embraces the uniqueness and vibrancy of the entire planet as expressed through music, sights and motion. Our focus on the diverse musical traditions of the world is in support and celebration of having more in common with one another than meets the eye.
